First day back, and it feels like I never left
My first full day at home again and my first day back to baking. After sleeping in, going to the gym I was ready to start my day around 2:30 (true college student). First I made one of my all-time favorite cookie recipes, Espresso Cinnamon Chocolate Chip cookies, from Bon Appetite. I have yet to find the recipe from a Bon Appetite website but the recipe comes from a HUGE orange book. That book literally has everything in it! Anyways, after reminiscence-baking I started on my first new recipe, Butterscotch pudding. The only time I remember eating butterscotch pudding is at Mario Batali's restaurant Mozza on Melrose. They have the best pizza, and italian dessert I have ever tasting. I can say this because I have not been to Italy yet. We had butterscotch pudding there and it was irresistible. Of course my version was not near as good, but I was pretty happy with the outcome. It was of course super sweet, but equally delicious. I got the recipe from epicurious. I garnished with fresh banana, and skipped the toffee bits because it seemed like it would make the pudding overwhelming. I think that next time i will add more caramel because that flavor was not strong enough to counter the creaminess of the pudding. I also sprinkled a dash of salt on top of mine, something they did at Mozza, and it was muy bueno! I ate it at room temperature, which I prefer to hot pudding, but prepare and eat as you prefer! And a picture of the finished product taken by my self proclaimed "profession blog photographer" sister, Tara.
