Cinni's
I've been craving cinnamon rolls since before i left for the weekend to go to San Diego. So I decided on Monday to start making them. I used a recipe from a fellow Los Angelen, Joy The Baker, and it was delicious!! It has raisins and pecans in the cinnamon-sugar filling. I started making the dough for the batter combining yeast and warm water together. Now I've used yeast before, but it went sort of wonky. The recipe calls for the warm water to be a specific temperature so, with the yeast waiting the mixing bowl I made an emergency run to Baby Vons, the small grocery store around the corner.
Just my luck they didn't have the candy thermometer to measure the temperature of the water, So I drove to the Ralph's near by. Though they didn't have the nail polish color I was looking for they did have candy thermometers. So once I had that i drove home and finished making my dough. . Once the dough had risen to about twice it's original size, I rolled it out, and smeared the cream cheese onto the rolled out dough. I folded the dough up again into a small 5x5 square and rolled it out again. Then I brushed it with melted butter and sprinkled the filling onto the dough. I pressed the mixture slightly into the dough. I had to make sure that the raisins and pecans stayed evenly distributed because they tended to be pushed to the edges.
I rolled the dough up, cut into slices and placed them in pans. I decided to refrigerate them over night and bake them the next morning for breakfast. Waking up the next morning I popped em in the oven.
I didn't used the same recipe for the icing that the recipe calls for, but i just mixed powdered sugar and heavy cream. I gobbled one down before going to the crazy intense kickboxing class with my sister and Brittany. MMM! caution: may cause sugar rush ( I crashed later that day, and slightly delirious).
